Sharing photos on a smartphone

Sending photos to children and grandchildren one by one via text message can eat up mobile data and quickly clutter phone storage. Creating a dedicated digital shared album is a much cleaner way to stay connected.

Using Google Photos (Android & Apple)

  1. Open the Google Photos app.
  2. Tap on the photos you want to share to highlight them with a tick.
  3. Tap the Share icon (an open triangle or box with an arrow) at the top or bottom of the screen.
  4. Select Create Album.
  5. Give the album a title (e.g., “Beachmere Fishing Trip”), then tap Share with People.
  6. Type in your family member’s email address or phone number.

Using Apple Photos (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open Photos and tap the Albums tab at the bottom.
  2. Tap the + icon in the top corner and select New Shared Album.
  3. Name your album and tap Next.
  4. Type your contact’s name and tap Create.
  5. Tap the + inside the album to add your favourite photos anytime.

Now, whenever you add a new photo to that album, your family sees it instantly on their devices without filling up text message storage.
