Privacy Policy

How Virtue IT collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

Last updated: October 2026

Virtue IT (ABN 89 860 556 639) is an Australian IT support and computer repair business based in Ningi, Queensland, servicing Bribie Island, Caboolture and the Moreton Bay region. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and stored, and how you can access or correct it.

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to book, deliver and invoice our services. Depending on how you deal with us, that may include:

  • Contact details — your name, phone number, email address and service address (for onsite callouts), submitted through our booking form, contact form, email, phone calls or in person.
  • Job details — the information you give us about your devices, faults, and the work you'd like done.
  • Billing details — payment information required to process invoices. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Technical information — device details needed to diagnose and fix faults (e.g. model, operating system, software versions).
  • Website usage data — basic analytics such as pages visited and referral source, collected via cookies (see below).

How we collect it

Information is collected directly from you — when you submit a booking or enquiry form on this website, call or email us, book in person, or engage us for support. We may also generate records during service delivery, such as job notes, diagnostic findings and invoices.

Remote access sessions

Remote support is provided using Splashtop SOS, a secure, permission-based remote access tool:

  • A remote session can only be started when you run the Splashtop SOS app and give us the one-time session code — we cannot access your device without it.
  • You can watch everything we do and can end the session at any time.
  • Sessions are encrypted. We do not record sessions unless we have agreed this with you first.
  • Once the session ends, we cannot reconnect without a new code from you.

Your files and data during repairs

When we repair or service your device, we only access files and data to the extent needed to diagnose and fix the reported fault, or where you have asked us to (for example, data recovery or backup). We do not copy, retain or browse your personal files. Where a repair requires wiping or replacing a storage device, we will discuss backup options with you first.

How we use your information

  • To book, schedule and deliver onsite, remote and workshop services
  • To diagnose faults and complete repairs you have requested
  • To issue invoices, receipts and quotes, and process payment
  • To follow up on completed work and warranty claims
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations
  • To respond to enquiries and provide customer support

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not use your details for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Who we share it with

We only share personal information where it is needed to deliver your service or meet legal obligations, including with:

  • Payment processors — to process card payments
  • Splashtop — as the provider of our remote support tool (subject to Splashtop's own privacy policy)
  • Suppliers and distributors — where needed to order parts or manage a manufacturer warranty repair on your behalf
  • Our related businesses — Virtue IT Online Shop (shop.virtueit.com.au) and TTVPS (ttvps.com.au), where you purchase products or hosting services through them
  • Government or legal authorities — where required by law

Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies for basic functionality, caching and anonymous usage analytics so we can see which pages are visited and improve the site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may be slower.

How we store and protect it

Customer and job records are stored on systems protected by passwords, encryption and access controls, hosted in Australia where practical. We keep records for as long as required for tax, accounting and warranty purposes (generally up to 7 years for financial records), then securely delete or destroy them.

Access and corrections

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time by contacting us (details below). We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and will not charge you for a routine request.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with the date of the latest update shown at the top.
