Tired of your landline or mobile ringing during dinner with automated sales calls and scams? Your smartphone has a built-in feature that lets you block repeat offenders in just a few taps.
For Android Phones
- Open your Phone app (the icon you use to make calls).
- Tap on Recents at the bottom to see your call log.
- Tap and hold the number that called you, or tap the little “i” (Info) icon next to it.
- Select Block / Report Spam and tap Block to confirm.
For Apple iPhones
- Open the Phone app and tap Recents.
- Tap the blue info button (circle with an “i”) next to the spam number.
- Scroll right to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Block this Caller, then tap Block Contact.
Pro-Tip: Silence Unknown Callers
If you get bombarded daily, iPhones have a setting under Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers. Android has a similar feature under Phone App > Settings > Caller ID & Spam. This automatically sends callers not in your contact list straight to voicemail without ringing your phone.
